New Street Trees in FPSE

January 27, 2010
by

The Forest Park Southeast public improvements committee has focused on improving the condition of the drive corridor streets (Taylor, Newstead, Tower Grove and Boyle) throughout the neighborhood.  At the request of the committee, City of St. Louis forestry crews were out in the neighborhood today planting Redbud trees along Newstead and Tower Grove.  These new street trees will further enhance the beautification efforts in the neighborhood.  Should look great come Spring!

Let us know what other improvements are needed along the drive cooridors.

I’d like to see more through streets connecting Taylor, Newstead, Tower Grove, and Boyle (ie open Gibson, Arco, etc). The bollards are preferable to the poorly-maintained pots at the “ends” of the streets (but some apparently still have concrete barricades, why?), but an actual functioning street grid would be even better for both visitors to the Grove (ease of getting around) and residents (easier access by emergency vehicles, more activity and eyes on the street decreasing crime).
